Short Bio

Susan Elliott Sim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Informatics at University of California, Irvine. Susan conducts empirical research in software engineering, developing analysis and tools that help software developers determine their technological needs and conduct better design. Much of her recent research has focused on software design practices and how these differ from prescribed methodologies. In particular she has looked at practices of Agile and iterative design, program comprehension, and open exchange of software knowledge. She is interested in how the software field advances both as a scientific community and as a community of practice.
