Mylyn: Redefining the "I" of the IDE
Add to calendarNot long ago the notion of a tool that hides more of the system than it shows sounded crazy. To some it still does. But hundreds of thousands of Mylyn users have made next big evolution of the IDE clear. Stories and tasks are more central than source code, focus is more important than features, and integration with the agile workflow is the biggest productivity boost since code completion. This talk will demonstrate the concepts of the task-focused interface and look ahead at how we are redefining the “I” of the IDE by personalizing the user experience around the agile process.
(I can do versions of this talk from 45 to 180 minutes. The 45 minute slot is on the short side since it does not allow much time for tool demos, so 90 minutes would be preferred.)
To get an idea of some of the talk content and style please see the following videos. Note that the audience for each was very specific so there isn’t a strong agile angle in either, although the core concepts are agile-based. The entire development of the tool and several integrations that we’ve done have been purely agile, and that’s what this talk will showcase. As with the talks listed below, there will be tool demos interspersed to make the ideas concrete.
