Developing Agile Leaders and Teams: A Developmental Path to Agile Leadership
One of the greatest challenges facing organizations today is increasing both individual and team leadership capabilities to be successful in a rapidly changing business environment of ever-increasing complexity.
According to developmental research (Torbert, Joiner & Josephs) almost 85% of today’s leaders are constrained by narrow, analytical and habitual thinking. Typically, these leaders are still struggling with ways of being and acting that make them defensive, controlling and self-centered which deeply affect teamwork. Their ways of communicating are often dominated by strong competitive desires to win or, for others, the tendency to accommodate and comply with others.
To thrive in our new business environment we need leaders who can lead form a post conventional standpoint and lead from a higher perspective. Research and observations tell us that leaders at post conventional levels of agility are quite much more capable to work in collaboration and engage in committed partnership. These leaders are able to generate creative action in a participatory way. They strive to understand the mindsets of others and create opportunities for everyone to give their best. This allows others to expand their horizons. They generate collaborative leadership and co-creative partnership.
So, how do we bring individuals and groups to higher stages of development? How do we create post-heroic team? What is the training/transformational process? What does it look like for a team to function at higher levels? This presentation will introduce you to the challenges, concepts, tools and templates to develop Catalyst leaders and build post conventional/post heroic teams.
